All traffic ticket records in Hollywood go through the Broward County Clerk of Courts. The Clerk's office, led by Brenda D. Forman, handles citations from every agency that writes tickets in Hollywood. That includes Hollywood Police, the Broward Sheriff's Office, and the Florida Highway Patrol. Under Florida Statute 318.14, you must respond to any traffic citation within 30 calendar days of the date it was issued.

Hollywood Police Department Citations
The Hollywood Police Department is the main law enforcement agency issuing traffic citations in the city. Their headquarters is at 3250 Hollywood Boulevard, Hollywood, FL 33021. The non-emergency number is (954) 764-4357. Hollywood PD uses the standard Florida Uniform Traffic Citation, just like every other agency in the state. Once the officer writes the ticket, it goes to the Broward Clerk for processing.
It takes about 5 to 10 days for a new citation to appear in the Clerk's system. If you try to look up your ticket right away and find nothing, give it a few more days. Hollywood PD patrols major corridors like US-1, Hollywood Boulevard, and Sheridan Street. The Broward Sheriff's Office and Florida Highway Patrol also write tickets on roads in Hollywood, especially on I-95 and the Florida Turnpike. All citations end up with the Broward Clerk regardless of which agency wrote them.
Paying Hollywood Traffic Tickets
There are multiple ways to pay a Hollywood traffic ticket. Fine amounts depend on the type of violation. Under Florida Statute 318.18, a basic moving violation carries a $60 fine before surcharges and court costs. Speeding fines go from $25 for 6-9 mph over up to $250 for 30 mph or more over. School zones double those fines. Court costs add $35 for moving violations. Paying the fine counts as a conviction and points will be added to your driving record.
Online payment is available at browardclerk.org or through the PayFLClerk statewide portal. The PayIt app and website also work for Broward County tickets. A processing fee applies to online and credit card payments. Cash payments at any Florida AMSCOT location go straight to the Clerk with no service fee. You can also mail a check or money order to P.O. Box 14610, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33302-4610. Never mail cash. In person, visit the Traffic South office in Hollywood for same-day processing.
Traffic School Option for Hollywood Residents
If you got a ticket in Hollywood, traffic school may be a smart move. Electing a Basic Driver Improvement course keeps points off your license and cuts the fine by 18%. You must contact the Broward Clerk within 30 days of the citation date to elect this option. Pay the reduced fine plus a $7.00 affidavit fee, then complete the course within 90 days.
Not everyone can use traffic school. CDL holders cannot elect it. If you were clocked at 30 mph or more over the limit, you are not eligible. The lifetime cap is five elections. You can only use it once per 12-month period. Once you finish the course, send the original certificate of completion to the Broward Clerk. The school might not submit it for you. If you fail to complete the course on time, you get hit with the full fine, a late fee, points on your license, and possible license suspension. A list of approved traffic schools is on the FLHSMV website.
Fighting a Hollywood Traffic Citation
You can contest any traffic ticket you get in Hollywood. Tell the Broward Clerk within 30 days that you want a court hearing. You can do this in person at the Traffic South location, by mail, or by phone. The court may fine you up to $500 if you lose at trial, or up to $1,000 for school zone and construction zone violations.
Another option is the conditional plea of no contest. This works for eligible civil traffic citations that did not involve a crash. No hearing is needed. No points go on your license and adjudication is withheld. Submit the plea by email to TrafficeClerk@browardclerk.org or by mail to the Clerk. If you miss the 30-day window, a $16 late fee applies. After 180 days of not responding, the Clerk tells the FLHSMV to suspend your license. Getting it back costs a $60 reinstatement fee plus full payment of all fines and penalties. That suspension stays on your FLHSMV driving record for seven years.
