Plantation Traffic Ticket Lookup
Traffic ticket records in Plantation are handled by the Broward County Clerk of Courts. The city sits in the west-central part of Broward County with about 90,000 residents. Plantation has a unique advantage for drivers dealing with traffic citations. The Broward Clerk's Traffic West branch office is right in the city at 100 North Pine Island Road, Room 110. That means you can take care of your ticket without driving to Fort Lauderdale or elsewhere in the county. All citations from Plantation police, the Broward Sheriff's Office, and the Florida Highway Patrol go through this same clerk system.

Broward County Clerk Handles Plantation Citations
The Broward County Clerk of Courts manages every traffic ticket record in Plantation. Clerk Brenda D. Forman runs the office. Under Florida Statute 318.14, you must respond to any noncriminal traffic citation within 30 days. That gives you time to pay the fine, elect traffic school, or request a hearing. The clock starts on the date the officer writes the ticket.

Paying a Plantation Traffic Ticket
Paying the fine is the quickest way to close your case. It counts as a guilty plea. Points go on your license for moving violations. Under Florida Statute 318.18, a standard moving violation costs $60 before court costs and surcharges. Nonmoving violations start at $30. Speeding fines break down like this: 6 to 9 mph over is $25, 10 to 14 mph over is $100, 15 to 19 mph over is $150, 20 to 29 mph over is $175, and 30 mph or more over is $250. School zone fines are doubled.
Online payment is available at browardclerk.org or through the PayFLClerk statewide portal. Choose Broward County from the list. A convenience fee applies to card payments. You can also pay by phone at (954) 831-6565. Mail a check or money order to P.O. Box 14610, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33302-4610. Cash payments at any Florida AMSCOT location carry no extra clerk fee. For in-person visits, the Traffic West branch in Plantation is right in the city, so you do not need to leave town.
Payment plans are an option if the full amount is too much at once. Go to any branch in person to set one up. A $25 processing fee applies per case. Plan payments must be made by mail or in person.
Plantation Traffic Citation Options
You have three choices after getting a traffic ticket in Plantation. Each one leads to a different result on your driving record.
The first option is to just pay the fine. It wraps things up fast. But it means you accept the charge. Points land on your record for moving violations. Check the back of the ticket for your total amount. Nonmoving tickets carry no points but still have to be paid within 30 days.
Contesting the ticket is your second path. Contact the Broward Clerk within 30 days to request a hearing. You show up in court, and the officer has to show up too. If the judge finds you guilty, the fine can reach $500 for most violations. School zone and construction zone tickets can go up to $1,000. A conditional plea of no contest is also available for eligible tickets that did not involve a crash. You submit this by email to TrafficeClerk@browardclerk.org. No court appearance is needed, and points stay off your record.
Traffic school is the third option. More on that below.
Traffic School for Plantation Drivers
Electing traffic school lets Plantation drivers avoid points on their license. You get an 18% reduction in the fine amount. The clerk withholds adjudication, so no conviction goes on your record. You must contact the Broward Clerk within 30 days of the citation date to elect this option. Then you have 90 days from the violation date to finish a Basic Driver Improvement course.
There are limits. You can use traffic school five times in your lifetime. Only once per 12-month period. CDL holders cannot use it. Tickets for going 30 mph or more over the speed limit do not qualify either. If you fail to finish the course on time, you face the full fine, a late fee, and points on your record. A license suspension may follow. Find approved course providers at the FLHSMV approved schools page. Most courses can be done online.
After you finish, make sure the Broward Clerk gets your certificate. Do not assume the school will send it. Call (954) 831-6565 to verify.
License Suspension and Plantation Tickets
Ignoring a Plantation traffic ticket leads to trouble. Miss the 30-day deadline and a $16 late fee gets added under Florida Statute 318.15. After 180 days with no response, the Broward Clerk reports you to the FLHSMV. Your license gets suspended. Clearing it means paying all fines, late fees, and a $60 reinstatement charge. The suspension stays on your driving record for seven years.
Points from Plantation traffic tickets add up with points from other cities and counties across the state. Twelve points in 12 months means a 30-day suspension. Eighteen points in 18 months gets you a 3-month suspension. Twenty-four points in 36 months results in a full year. Check your point total through the MyDMV Portal.
